Ask Me Anything > CGM Age Limit

Hi,

I'm looking into the Dexcom G4 CGM and it says that it can't be worn by anyone under 18 years old in the USA. Are you in the USA?

Thanks,
Jackie

Hi Jackie,

I am in the US. The DexCom isn't currently FDA approved for use for people under 18 years. However, your physician can prescribe it for your child off label. Ask your endo, they can definitely make it happen for you with very little trouble. You may find that your insurance company balks a bit but your endo can help you get through that process. I think you'll love using a CGM, please let me know how things turn out.

Does that answer your question?

Best,
Scott
