Ask Me Anything > Updated image?

Hi Scott:

Love the blog. I remember some months back you mentioned possibly updating the photo of Arden used as the primary image for the site. I'm wondering why you didn't do it. Girls can face so many challenges relating to their self-image while growing up. I can't help but wonder whether keeping a perpetually young Arden as the image for the site might affect how Arden feels as she sees herself changing in the mirror. I'd love to see the site embrace the ever-changing Arden.

Hey Shawnmarie! I'm sorry it took me this long to get back to you, holidays...

I agree. I've been thinking about how to do just what you've suggested for months. I need to find a way to accomplish the header reflecting Arden as she grows without losing what is now a very recognizable image that lets readers know that they are on the blog they know.

I do want to tell you that while Arden's Day is about my life with Arden and you read her name very frequently, she doesn't read the site or really see it with any regularity. And I do use pictures from today in my posts. I think that I've gotten myself into a difficult situation by creating such a capturing and recognizable banner image. It's tough to think about abandoning it. It really is the look of this site.

I'll find something...

Thanks so much for your thoughts and concern! I'm very happy that you are enjoying my stories of living with type I.

Be well in 2013,
Scott

Scott,

What if you kept the original banner on the main page and then used a different "Collage" banner for subsequent pages? Not sure how templated your site is nor how difficult that would be for you, but a collage is pretty easy to do (I'll volunteer if you send a bunch of photos you'd like to use) and then you can add on as the years go by. No need to abandon what you've started - after all, it's about her whole life with diabetes, not just 'now'. Food for thought

I appreciate the offer, genuinely! But I'll need to wait for it to come to me in its own time. It will... always does. Thanks again for caring and the great offer!
