Hello Amy,
I'm sorry to hear about your son's diagnosis but I know that you'll find your footing with time. I wanted you to know that I spent some time searching for other diagnosis possibilities too. I hoped that Arden didn't have type I with all of my heart and I think what you are going through is a very normal part of the process.
I am going to post a link to this on the Arden's Day Facebook page and see if I can find you a concrete answer about antibodies though I suspect what you said is correct.
Kevin sat right next to me on the panel, he was a delight... I can't wait to see the finished product. Exciting time.
I'm glad that you are finding the site useful and hope that we can speak again. Please let me know if you need anything.
Best,
Scott
Just saw the article in the Courier times. Congratualtions. My 7 year old son was dxed exactly 2 months ago. So far we have been managing well, but we are in honeymoon. His follow up a1c was 7.41 so we were quite happy. Interestingly, his blood work at D time showed no antibodies for Diabetes. Can't get much of an answer out of the doctors on what that means. They seem to think we caught it early before antibodies would be present. So far still no antibodies. Was wondering since you reach a huge audience if you have ever heard of this before? I have been investigating it on my own, but figured you might reach a bigger audience than I would. Not that it would change anything, but I am wondering if he could have type 2 (even though he is tiny and presented with type 1 symptoms). Of course not that it matters I understand he has diabetes and that isn't going to change, but I guess since it is all so new and I am probably still in denial, I was wondering what it meant. Thanks and I am enjoying your blog! Oh PS. My friend Kevin M. was another blog daddy that was at the Katie show with you!
