Ask Me Anything > Coxsackievirus

hi

I just read how Arden had the Coxsackievirus prior to diagnosis. My son Teddy was diagnosed a year and a half ago, aged 4, and I have been certain his Type 1 was triggered by Hand, Foot and Mouth disease which went round his pre-school. This is caused by the Coxsackievirus. You are the first person I have heard linking Type 1 to this. The hospital he was diagnosed at didn't seem interested when I mentioned him having Hand, Foot and Mouth prior to diagnosis.

Teddy is also on Omnipod and about to get a Dexcom G4.

We live in Norfolk, England, UK.
