Final version

Thanks to everyone who provided feedback during our “artistic” process.  It’s a far better ad due to your help and support.

Here is a link to the JDRF Ad Book final.pdf that we just sent off to the JDRF.

Scott,

I am glad  that you are going to adveritise your web-site through JDRF.  And, the ad looks great.

As you know, we learned about your web-site through my friend's daughter who works with your wife.  My daughter and I always talk about how fortunate we are that found out about your web-site.

Now others, who also have type 1 diabetes in their family, will be given the same opportunity to read your caring and knowledgeable words on taking care of a child with type 1 diabetes.

Thank you for all you do.

Julia

Some Arden’s Day readers from Maine came out to our recent JDRF fundraiser in central NJ.  Granted they were already in northern New Jersey visiting with family but they definitely win the prize for longest distance travelled.

From left to right: Julia (type I), Julia’s mom Holly, Barbara, Julia’s Grandmom, Ava the little sister and Julia’s Aunt Pat.

When I met Barbara in person the day of the fundraiser she told me how much Arden’s Day means to her family. I’ll keep that conversation private, just for me, but I do want to say this, “I am so happy that this site is helping people, the knowledge that sharing Arden’s day is helping other children makes all of this a little more tolerable”.

Thanks for coming Julia!  I hope you had a great time, Arden loved meeting you.

Barbara (Julia's Grandma)
Scott,

Thank you for including us in your web-site.  To be included in a web-site that means ever so much to us is such an honor.  It touches us so deeply when we read about similar experiences in caring for our precious girls.

We did a lot of fun activities while visiting family in N.J.  However, Julia said her favorite was your Bowling Fundraiser and meeting Arden.  Again, I cannot emphasize enough how grateful we are for both your web-site and for the numerous fundraisers you have for JDRF.

Sincerely,
Barbara

Strike Out Diabetes 2010

Stu & Stew’s 2nd annual Strike Out Diabetes event was fantastic.  I’m not sure how the boys did it but they elevated their JDRF bowling fundraiser to another level.  Check out this post to see a bit of video of Arden bowling...

NEEDS VIDEO

I’ll be back to update this post when I have the final tally for the day.  Until then, thank you to everyone that put so much of their time and effort into this amazing and touching day.  It’s humbling to have so many friends, family and even strangers come together to support you.

UPDATE: Dan raised over $1,600 with his 2nd annual bowling day!  Way to go Dan!

JDRF Meeting Request has been made...

A dropped off the petition and a written request for a meeting at the Congressman's Hamilton, NJ office today.  I spoke with a lovely woman named Mrs. Carol (I hope I’m spelling her named correctly) who told me that she would forward my request to their Washington office.

Please continue to sign the petition and forward it to your friends.  http://www.petitiononline.com/4Arden/petition.html

UPDATE: The Congressman’s D.C. office called me Friday and said that a date for the meeting may be set as early as this week.  More info as I have it...

Here is the letter that I included with the signatures.
