'Life Is Short' shout-out on FEaB

There I was two weeks ago minding my own business on the sofa, watching television out of one eye and looking at Twitter out of the other. I saw that Matt Mira (From The Nerdist) was asking if anyone wanted to ask Scott Mosier (Film producer and all around great guy) a question for the next episode of their PodCast, FEaB. I had no context for his question, but as it turns out, they were about to sit down to record an episode and wanted listener questions.

I, having taken a photograph of Scott in the distant past, replied...

@MattMira Does @smosier remember/still have this photo that I took of him? #preDogma and just as I was about to press send I thought, "What the hell" and added, ...& Would you guys read my book?

I haven't thought about sending the tweet since that moment, until today when I heard this.

Audio from (Life is Short shout-out) FEaB #27

Anyway, how mind-bending is it that a photo I took in 1998 when I was twenty seven, at a Kevin Smith film festival, would lead to a book mention in 2013? The Internet is indeed a strange and wonderful place.

DSMA Live (feat. me)

The nicest recurring compliment that I've ever received comes from people who know me in real life, has to, here's why. People say that when they read my writing they can, "hear my voice". One of my dear friends told me that it's like having me read to him. I always find this sentiment particularly touching.

So if "having me read to you" sounds like an attractive idea, you are in luck. On Monday, December 17, 2012 at 9 pm I'm going to be chatting my silly head off with Bennet and Lorraine on DSMA Live, Parents Talk. Feel confident that you'll hear more then enough of my mellifluous and dulcet tones to give you the ability to hear me when you read my stuff too. Cause no joke, I talk a lot. I'm betting that anyone that tunes in late won't even know Lorraine and Bennet are there, sorry guys!

The hosts haven't shared what topics they are hoping to cover with the exception of one. We are going to talk in a bit of detail about how I forged the good relationship that we have at Arden's school and turned it into our current type I diabetes management plan. The rest will be a surprise even to me. So if 504 plans and cool new ways to manage your kid's BGs while they're not with you sounds like a fun way to spend an hour, this will be right up your alley.

I can tell you a few things for sure. It'll be fun, informative and if you call in to say hello or ask a question... I'd love that very much!

You can listen live at 9 pm with this link.

I'll have a few copies of my new book to giveaway (Thanks Spry!), 760-283-5150 if you want to call in.

After the show has ended you can listen to a replay at the link or via iTunes.

Talk to you Monday!

Blogging Diabetes Podcast (feat. Me)

Recently Tony Rose interviewed me for his podcast, 'Blogging Diabetes'. We talked about raising a CWD, my new book, 'Life Is Short, Laundry Is Eternal', I got a little mushy about my wife Kelly and much more. I hope you enjoy the episode and if you get the chance, I'd love for you to come back here and let me know how I did.

I was 'Just Talking' with Chris Snider

The best aspect of the Roche Social Media Summit was meeting other members of the DOC, like Chris Snider. Chris has a fantastic podcast called, 'Just Talking' and he was kind enough to ask me to appear on it along with a bunch of other summit attendees.

The entire episode is a great listen with familiar DOC names (in order of appearance) like Cherise Shockley (who shares some exciting news about DSMA), Stacey Divone, George Simmons, Scott Johnson, Lee Ann Thill, Wendy Rose, Sara Nicastro, Kim Vlasnik and Kerri Sparling. My bit comes last at 41:00 where I announce the title of my upcoming book, smart mouth a bit about minor league baseball and talk about being the parent of a child with type I diabetes. It's a light conversation until Chris asks me about how I view my role in the DOC, then things "get real".

So if you are interested to hear how I think about type I blogging, want a spoiler about my book title (that isn't happening on this site until tomorrow) or are just interested in hearing my voice... check out 'Just Talking' by clicking on the image at the top of this post or by following this link.

Much of this episode is recorded at a baseball game so there is wind noise, however my interview happens indoors so it is very easy to listen to.
