Uncle Brian gets a gift

My brother just left an hour ago and I miss him terribly already... he was home for Christmas and we don’t get to see each other often enough.  This year Brian came home with a story and a check for the JDRF in his pocket.

I want to tell you his story.  Brian was at work a few days before he left to come home and he and a co-worker were talking about family.  At some point Brian told his friend about Arden’s website.  They chatted a bit more and the friend showed interest in Arden’s life with diabetes, my brother obliged him with a few stories about living with type I and facts about the disease.

The next day his friend found him at work and handed him two envelopes; the first was a Christmas card and the second was a check for the JDRF.

Brian called me right after he opened the envelope and said the following, “I just got the best Christmas present that I’ve ever received”.  Then he told me this story.

A young man that we’ve never met, gave my brother one hundred and fifty dollars to pass on the JDRF because he said that Arden’s story touched him.  So if you’re out there Barret, thank you!  It was the best gift that any of us got this year, you made my brother feel wonderful and all of us too.  We passed your kindness on to the JDRF and they thank you as well.

Anyone can make a donation to the JDRF at their website, JDRF.org or through Arden’s personal fundraising site on the JDRF’s sitehttp://walks.jdrf.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=extranet.personalpage&confirmid=87699113

One last time, thank you Barret, thank you so much!
