I am about 95% certain that I will have good news to share with you about the petition you signed asking Arden’s Congressman to meet with her and the JDRF to discuss Type I diabetes!

The Alberta Diabetes Foundation has indeed decided to use Arden in their upcoming ad campaign! It begins with a mailer, they are currently deciding if Arden’s piece will launch the campaign or run during World Diabetes Day.
It’s your dedication to Arden’s website that made this possible. When you take the time to watch a video or spread the word about the site, it grows. Our site shows up inGoogle and YouTube searches because of you. Today I noticed that the Arden Speaks video is listed on the AOLvideo page (a place I never put it). This is what the kids call “viral” marketing, it works and it’s how the Alberta Diabetes Foundation found Arden. Together we can find a cure.
I’ve included the rough first draft of the mailer below for you to see. Photographs are still being chosen but this is a good representation of how the finished piece will look.
I was contacted yesterday by the Alberta Diabetes Foundation. Their Public Relations department is interested in using a few photographs of Arden in an upcoming ad campaign!
Very exciting news! I’ll keep you posted on how the ad campaign is going and where you can see Arden’s pictures when it is completed. The ADF may also be interested in some of Arden’s videos.
The ADF is located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and is responsible for some very hopeful research. Please check out their website for more information on them.
It is a wonderful feeling to know that so many people across the planet are working so tirelessly to end Arden’s suffering!
Arden and her brother Cole got a big surprise on Tuesday, their pleas for a puppy have finally answered.
Arden is mothering the poor thing at every opportunity...
Say hello to Indy... He is a Miniature Bulldog that we got from a wonderful woman in Minnesota. You can see more pictures of Indy in Arden’s scrapbook.
The 2008 JDRF Walk website is up and running. But registering as a “walker” doesn’t mean you have to walk anywhere (though we’d love for you to attend).
Unlike charity walks you may remember from the past, donations aren’t multiplied by the miles you walk or any other such formula. You can think of yourself as an “advocate” rather then a “walker”. Unless you walk then you’re definitely a walker... but no less an advocate.
In October 2007 we 'Walked for Arden' and when the dust settled we raised over $10,000.00 for the JDRF to fight Type I diabetes with! Seventeen of us gathered donations from over 180 individuals. Arden’s Day readers that lived too far away to come to the PA walk attended walks in their home state and then submitted their donation through Arden’s JDRF site.
I know that the 2008 Walk is many months away and I’m not asking for donation just yet. I'm hoping to get our walkers signed up early as part of an effort to reach a new goal in 2008. That goal is to expand our walker base exponentially.
If everyone that receives my email signed up and then raised just $200 we would add over $20,000 to last year's total, which of course would just be amazing!
Thank you for your time and for considering Walking for Arden... signing up is just a click away.
